What is Animal Assisted Therapy?
Animal Assisted Therapy is a specialised therapy for kids with Autism or other sensory processing difficulties. Hosted in a child-friendly space, the sessions are run by an Occupational Therapist, Dog Instructor, and of course… a wonderful See Differently Therapy Dog.
Each participant’s program is individualised, focussing on their unique needs and goals, which are worked on across the sessions.
What will AAT help with?
Focus areas may include reducing anxiety, emotional regulation, improving communication, or feeling comfortable in new spaces.
Other benefits of the program include:
• Learning new skills
• Fine and Gross motor skills
• Improved concentration
• Relationship-building skills
“This program and the therapists are so special. My son has visited new places he wouldn’t have previously, he’s interacted with new people, and even learnt road safety skills. This program has given us hope for the future.” … Parent
