See Differently and Beyond Blindness have received a three-year grant from the Federal Government to deliver a much-needed Peer Support Program for people who have suddenly lost their sight or experienced a deterioration in their vision.
The experience of vision loss can be isolating. This program, launching in early 2025, brings together people with shared experiences and challenges to provide help and encouragement to each other.
Join The Team
We’re looking for people to join the program as Peer Support Workers:
- Paid roles
- Volunteer roles
As a Peer Support Worker, you could create a supportive environment where people with vision loss can share their feelings, gain insight, and feel less alone in their struggles at a crucial point in their vision loss journey. You will also gain new skills, confidence, connection and personal growth.

You can access the Position Descriptions for both paid and volunteer roles on the Careers page of our website.
Peer Support Volunteer Workers
You don’t need a lot of time, even just an hour a week, to support other people experiencing vision loss. In this volunteer role you’ll get free training (either in Adelaide or over Zoom) and support from the Peer Support Program team. All you need is a great attitude, a willingness to give back and the desire to share your experiences.
Peer Support Casual Worker (Casual, hourly rate)
If you’ve had experience working in the disability, government or not for profit sectors and have the skills to be able to provide sound advice and help with referrals to relevant services, this could be the role for you. It’s a little more involved than the volunteer positions, but again you’ll be provided with free training and access to lots of support from the team.
